Everyone knows that keeping up after cleaning can be very time consuming and expensive.  The truth however is that it does not have to be some expensive to clean up your place and if done regularly it does not have to be a time intensive task that to keep your house clean.  There is a combination of ways to make sure that you stay on budget while keeping your residence clean.

Use Proper Tools

Many people think they can get away with saving money by using improper tools but the truth of the matter is this just takes up a lot more time, and if you use tools improperly you risk damaging the tool and whatever you are cleaning.  Don’t try and use rags that are not meant for certain surfaces, or clean floors with things that are not meant to clean floors.

If you buy the proper tools and use them properly you won’t have to replace them as often, and you don’t risk damaging the surface that you are cleaning by improper usage of a tool.  It costs much more to keep replacing tools and will cost a hell of a lot more to replace a surface that was damaged by improper cleaning.

Don’t Be Afraid To Go Generic

People often think that generic cleaners are somehow sub standard but the truth is they are not.  With most brand names you are paying extra money for the brand.  So don’t go out and buy the expensive brand name cleaners – most stores offer a generic brand cleaner at a much lower price.  The generic pine floor cleaner works just as good as Pine Sol but costs almost half as much.

Some things just are not as good though if you use generic cleaners.  Also you should be careful doing this with laundry detergents as often generic laundry detergents are more likely to cause allergic reactions on the person wearing the clothes and the rash is a most unpleasant experience.

Set Up A Cleaning Schedule

Setting up a regular cleaning schedule will not only help you stay on top of the cleaning needs of your residence it will also help you save some money as well.  If you do all your cleaning in one day and a nightly cleaning you save money by using hot water less, using the electricity that your vacuum requires less and you will also make sure you don’t forget things so they are not damaged by dirt and other things that would normally be cleaned up from the surfaces that you clean.

Do Your Dishes

Yes, do your dishes.  Don’t have the dishwasher do your dishes.  If you do your own dishes you stand to save quite a bit of money doing your own dishes.  Dishwashers use a large amount of water and electricity for every run of them.  If you are just cooking for yourself or a small family running the dish washer is just not economical.  You should just clean the dishes yourself and save the money that would be spent into running the dishwasher.

Don’t Make A Mess

This may seem a bit difficult for a lot of people to understand but if you do not make a mess there is not much cleaning to do.  If you clean up right away there is less of a chance of your mess setting in on the surface and it will take less time and cleaning supplies to get it cleaned up.  So try harder not to make messes and if you do clean them up right away.

Make it fun

To make your cleaning much more fun, and make it go quicker thus saving you money you should try to make it fun.  Try adding some music to listen to while your cleaning or even consider treating yourself to something special like a desert after you are done.  If you put something nice like cookies in the oven while your cleaning aim to have the cleaning done before the cookies are done so you have the motivation do get it done and a special treat to make the cleaning less of a chore.  If you keep up on your cleaning you don’t have to spend lots of money or time – and it can be fun as well.
