Peru’s got it right
Peru is one of those places that continues to draw tourists and still somehow continues to be relatively inexpensive. The sensational colonial town is worth a vacation visit with three star hotels for $35.00 a night with meals starting at $4.00 is Cusco. A one night stay at a three star hotel for $50.00 and a meal for $4.00 is also available in the rarely considered Lima.
Istanbul is still cool
It is in fact one of the largest and greatest cities in the world. Inexpensive Beach Resorts Unlimited could be the new name of a popular European vacation spot we know as Turkey. Three star hotels run approximately $60.00 a night and you can find a meal for just under $6.00.
Cairo – Cleopatra had the right idea
You can be the queen of the Nile or the king of chaotic and crowded Cairo, but either way you will find extremely inexpensive accommodations. Meals starting at $3.00 and three star hotels for $25.00 a night can be enjoyed as well as beach resorts (which are becoming more and more sought after by European travelers).
Oops! You went to Spain? – Try Marrakech then!
If you decide upon Spain for your vacation and chance a cheap, quick ferry ride over to Morocco—you’ll think twice about going back to Spain. Because that’s how much more you are paying to stay in Spain. Twice as much! Marrakech, the easiest place to vacation on a budget, will put you up for the night in a three star hotel for under $50.00 and feed you a great meal starting at around $5.00. Fez has three star hotels and meals at the same rate, but also offers lower prices at some of their lesser quality accommodations.
Mumbai and Delhi and Goa… Oh my!
Stay away from the big cities when you visit India if you want to save money. Extremely inexpensive accommodations can be found in Mumbai, Delhi and Goa with three star rates at $70.00 in Mumbai but as low as $30.00 and $20.00 and Delhi and Goa respectively. You can find lesser accommodations in Mumbai for cheaper rates if you so choose. Eating is not only pleasurable but cheap with meals starting as low as $3.00 and $4.00. Goa also has a good number of beach restaurants and hotels for only a slightly higher charge.
My vacation was made in China
Once your plane lands and you settle in, China is amongst some of the most frugal places on earth to vacation. Shanghai charges $50.00 for their three star hotels and $4.00 for a meal; Beijing (home of the Forbidden City and a couple of pieces of the Great Wall) will feed you for $3.00 and up and only ask for $30.00 for a one night stay at a three star hotel.
Smiling in Thailand
Budget travelers have been flocking to Thailand (known as the Land of Smiles) for years. Not only is it easy to maneuver but it is exotic in many of its customs and behaviors. The smaller islands in this area should not be ignored by the frugal traveler as they are supreme budget bonanzas. Chiang Mai and Bangkok offer three star accommodations for between $20.00 and $25.00 a night; one star rooms are ridiculously affordable at $5.00 per night, and eating a meal is an equally ridiculous $3.00 and up. Phuket is only a little more expensive but this southern island resort still offers three star accommodations starting under $50.00 and complete meals for under $5.00. And that’s the most expensive part of Thailand! Pack my bags!
$1 affair: Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam
It is not uncommon to find three star hotels starting at $30.00 a night and meals starting between $4.00 and $5.00 in places like Vientiane, Luang Prabang, Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Hoi An. And if you’re OK with staying in a hostel, break open your piggy bank… $1.00 per night is all they ask. There are some amazing enjoyments in this part of the world including temples, French cuisine, cheap beer and untold bargains for shoppers. A lot of items in shops you can haggle to get a better price. Shortchanging people is common here, so make sure you count your money as well.
Malaysia and Indonesia: Rounding up the budget list
Indonesia and Malaysia are the final two destinations on this list of frugal vacation spots. English is extremely common in Malaysia and Indonesia is fraught with bargains. Respectively, you can pay $35 and $40 a night for a three star hotel and both locations offer meals starting at $4.00.
